Abstracts from Provence

Towards the end of my stay at  the residency in Provence, I found that I had used up all my canvas, so I painted on some Masonite boards I had bought. Working on the boards, knowing that I had completed the series on canvas of the village, seemed to free me up to work more intuitively. I used whatever was at hand, making marks with detritus from the garbage bin, collaging paper napkins and wrapping paper, and thoroughly enjoying the freedom to paint without any expectations.

I think that the palette was influenced by the colors in the village.
